Events
What types of events can you host at the Cense d'Abaumont?
We host both private events (weddings, engagements, birthdays, family gatherings, christenings, first communions) and corporate events (seminars, conferences, team-building activities, corporate functions). Our four venues — the Orangerie, the Fenil, the Atelier and the Garden — can be adapted to suit the size and format of your event.
Where is the Cense d'Abaumont located?
La Cense d’Abaumont is situated within the grounds of the Château de Maulde, near Tournai, about 30 minutes from Lille and 60 minutes from Brussels.
Is the caterer mandatory or do we have a choice?
Currently, the choice of caterer is unrestricted. We can provide you with a list of preferred caterers.
How many people can be accommodated in your rooms?
The maximum capacity depends on each room and the desired layout: we offer solutions for 10 to 200 people.
Is the site accessible to people with reduced mobility?
Our Orangerie venue has disabled access via the delivery entrance, and the L’Hostellerie gîte offers disabled access as well as a room suitable for people with reduced mobility.
What are the booking conditions (deposit, cancellation)?
For venue hire, a deposit of 30 % must be paid within 8 days of signing the contract. The balance must be paid in full 30 days before the event. In the event of cancellation, the deposit will be retained by the owner.
Is there enough parking for a large event?
Yes, the estate has a private landscaped car park with over 150 spaces, which is easy to access.

Holiday cottages
Are the holiday cottages open all year round?
Yes, our three holiday cottages — L’Hostellerie, Le Clos and La Tour — are open and available to book.
Can you rent a single holiday cottage, or do you have to book all three together?
Each holiday cottage can be booked independently. It is also possible to exclusively hire all three cottages to accommodate up to 26 people, particularly for a family weekend or a corporate event held on the estate. For a wedding or an event with an evening reception held over a weekend, the rental of the cottages cannot be separated from the venue hire.
How can I check the prices and book?
Availability and rates (which vary depending on the season) can be viewed directly on each holiday cottage's page, with online booking. To exclusively hire all 3 cottages, you can contact us.
Are pets allowed?
No.
Are household linen and cleaning included?
Linen is included (bed sheets, bath towels and tea towels), cleaning and utility bills are included.
Is there a minimum length of stay?
Minimum 2-night stay.
Are the holiday cottages accessible to people with reduced mobility?
The Hostellerie has access and a bedroom suitable for people with reduced mobility, with an en-suite bathroom. This is not the case for Le Clos and La Tour.
Can guests for a wedding organised at the Cense d'Abaumont be accommodated in the gites?
Yes, that is even one of the main uses for our gîtes: they allow your guests to stay on-site and fully prolong the experience of the estate.
